The high roof, built in the traditional way, is thatched in straw, the walls are built from natural stones. Everything in Tswalu has been borrowed from nature, which is treated with great respect here.
The exclusive chalets nestle in the landscape.
The paths, too, merge unobtrusively into the red desert sands of the Kalahari.

The low-hanging thatched roofs provide shade and merge harmoniously into the countryside, which occasionally produces magnificent blooms even in this barren desert area.
Sheltered from the sun, you can enjoy an uninterrupted view into the fascinating scenery from the terrace.
The solid wooden entrance is a special construction. Behind this revolving door, an exclusive atmosphere opens up.
The affection for material that has grown naturally can be seen from the interior decoration. An individual, authentic style emerges from the combination of high-grade fabrics in bright colours and classic design.
The chalets in Tswalu Motse offer the highest standards of comfort. Furthermore, you can let yourself be pampered in this luxurious accommodation with an open fire and comfortable armchairs.
In the evening, the romantically lit four-poster bed under the high roof invites you to sleep and dream.

Natural materials also define the atmosphere in the spacious bathrooms, whose large glass façades are protectively enclosed by rustic stone walls.

The large nature and game reserve at the foot of the Koranna Mountains was once the habitat of the San, of whose culture evidence can still be seen today on numerous rock engravings. Today, the reserve is a sanctuary for more that 70 species of wild animals.
Along with black rhinoceros, African buffalo, lions and cheetahs, lots of scimitar-horned oryx and roan antelopes roam the dry steppe and savannah landscape.
A guided safari through the southern area of the Kalahari is one of the very special experiences in South Africa.

Bird-lovers, too, will have adequate opportunities to observe their small friends in Tswalu. More than 200 types of birds with coloured feathers contribute to the exotic concert here.
The social weavers with their yellow plumage are particularly impressive. These diligent birds weave their striking nests in the treetops. Chirruping merrily, several hundreds of birds fly in and out beneath the small straw roofs.
After buying a whole series of farms in 1995, the Englishman Stephen Bolder started on active nature conservation in order to restore this area to its original state. Numerous wild animals were returned to their homeland. Nicky Oppenheim, the current owner, carries on this heritage rigorously.
The cute ground squirrels gazing full of curiosity into the camera with their expressive dark eyes are a popular sight.
