If you travel round the north of South Africa, you will come across the magnificent Welgevonden Game Reserve surrounded by the Waterberg Mountains, in the heart of which two exclusive safari lodges are located: Shidzidzi & Nungubane

The partially covered terrace of the Main Lodge provides a sheltered refuge with an uninterrupted view of the South African bush.

Tall, pointed thatched roofs convey a feeling of expanse. Traditional building materials and the generous use of glass create a snug atmosphere. The inside and outside merge into each other harmoniously.
You can also enjoy modern comfort with traditional African flair in the large communal lounge. The comfortable seating right in front of the fireplace is a popular place for exchanging fascinating information.
Pretty examples of traditional African craftsmanship are to be found everywhere.

The decoration in the exclusive safari lodges has been coordinated right down to the very last detail.
The magnificent straw-covered ceiling with wooden beams is a real eye-catcher, too. Lovingly coordinated pieces of décor and simple, tasteful furniture create a harmonious atmosphere.
Each of the two lodges has a spacious Main Lodge with a restaurant and open lounge. Various seating units by the fireplace or in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows with a view of the scenery and the near-by Marico River offer an ideal setting for reliving your last safari and looking forward to the next one.
Imposing leather armchairs and soft upholstered furniture is grouped around the delicate coffee table woven entirely from bast.

Friendly staff are happy to serve you and they will gladly pour you a glass of good wine. South African wines are renowned for their magnificent bouquet. And nowhere do they taste better than in the locality where they are produced.
You can enjoy the very best seats in the house with a view of the fascinating Welgevonden Game Reserve round the large communal swimming pool.
Absolute privacy amidst fascinating countryside greets guests in their luxury chalets. Their own sun terraces are built on short stilts, and here, too, the typical African roofs are thatched.
The decoratively designed interiors captivate you with their light and airy flair. Here, too, large glass façades provide uninterrupted views into the fascinating beauty of the surroundings.
The roomy living and sleeping area keeps on providing different angles from which to look at things. An open fireplace, the earthy smell of burning wood, exotic sounds from afar, safety and security - these are tranquil moments to enjoy.
When the sun shines in through the spacious glass façades and sheds its light on the warm tones of yellow and brown, a harmonious interplay of light and shade develops.

The bathrooms are heavenly wellness oases for body and soul. Offering uninterrupted views of the African bush, they are wonderful places to relax in.
You can also enjoy divine views in this romantically decorated living room and bedroom combined. Bedded down entirely in zebra patterns, you'll feel close to the green wilderness. So you can dream peacefully about the next day or even set off on safari in your thoughts.
Shidzidzi & Nungubane are only a few minutes drive by Land Rover apart. Both lodges are ideal points of departure for guided discovery tours into the fascinating nature reserve with its large stock of wildlife.
The game drives take place in the early morning and early evening. These are the best times for observing the wildlife.

Along with Land Rover safaris, guided walking safaris are also offered. The flora and fauna can be experienced at even closer range on foot, by day and night.
The experienced rangers prove to be indispensable guides through the fascinating animal world.
Again and again, the proud rhino will happily put in an appearance on expeditions, too. The fifty wide-mouthed, white rhinoceros wandering round the game reserve with their black cousins with hooked noses are real rarities.
Many inhabitants of the steppes are at home in the Welgevonden Game Reserve. You might even come across a pride of lions having a scrap.

There's lots to discover in the private Welgevonden nature reserve: along with the Big Five and many other bush inhabitants, 16 species of antelope and no fewer than 250 interesting species of bird have found a home and shelter here, too.
The malaria-free nature reserve in the heart of the Waterberg Mountains is one of the few remaining intact habitats for wild animals in South Africa.

Nungubane Lodge: from 209,- € per person per day in a suite with full board with double occupancy.
