Integrated into the treetops on stable plateaux, the tree-house suites offer an exceptional experience in the midst of a fascinating world of birds, with a view through the forest onto Knysna Lagoon. The service areas, such as the excellent restaurant, pool and Body Boma Wellness Centre, are linked via wood-paths meandering through the forest.

The roofs are covered in straw or small hand-made wooden slates, which, in combination with the effect of light and shade, form magnificent living structures.

The whole of the Phantom Forest accommodation is built from natural materials out of the surrounding forest and so everything blends in harmoniously. The individual elements have been delicately woven into the growing surroundings.

The suites built high up in the treetops offer absolute privacy. Amidst the trees and animals of the forest, you sense the tranquillity of nature, intensified only by the call of the kingfisher or the owls at night.

A magnificent fresh-water pool with a panoramic view of the lagoon completes the lodge’s programme of relaxation.
View over Knysna Lagoon, a paradise for the blue-feathered kingfisher and more than 80 different types of birds. Bushpigs, bushbucks and any amount of small, long-fingered monkeys are among the animals to be found in the forests and wetlands.

The committed Phantom Forest team organises excursions into the surrounding area, mountain-bike rides or canoeing trips over the Knysna River, they can arrange delicious picnics or, if you prefer, remain completely invisible…
Natural materials from the surrounding area have also been used in the interior decoration of the rooms which are subtly furnished with handmade fabrics, horns and hides.

The fascinating ceilings of Boma Hall are reminiscent of the intertwined branches of the forest. The central supporting pillar almost appears to be growing out of the ground. The living roof has been completely covered in woven grass, a technique adopted by the early settlers from the beehive-shaped Zulu huts.
The spacious suites, too, have been decorated with natural materials. The beautiful hand-woven fabrics and stylish decorations harmonise very well with the rooms’ unusual roof design.

The suites’ bathrooms with their large bathtubs where you can also literally let the high showers rain down on you, and the washing-stands, reminiscent of the portable washing facilities in the era of exclusive expeditions, are uniquely beautiful wellness oases.
Large window fronts have been very skilfully integrated into the design of the tree-house suites, so all rooms have a fantastic view into the surrounding treetops.
